starknet-privacy evaluated — complete privacy blueprint for NeXuS note/nullifier model (2026-08-17 06:06)¶

Status: 🔵 DESIGNED — patterns identified, NeXuS-native implementation pending. What: Evaluated StarkWare's starknet-privacy as the privacy model blueprint for NeXuS NeXiuM payment layer. Why: Note/nullifier/channel/viewing-key model is production-proven and directly portable to NeXuS — only Starknet-specific plumbing needs replacing. Everything architectural is sovereign. How: Read README, SDK README, discovery-core README, privacy pool contract README. Key findings: (1) Phase-ordered action model (0: SetViewingKey → 7: InvokeExternal) — InvokeExternal is the anonymizer for creator royalty routing. (2) Notes + nullifiers + channels replace account balances — each note is encrypted, spent via nullifier, received via one-time stealth address. (3) Viewing key (scan_key) lets owner discover incoming notes without spending key — maps directly to HD keyring scan_key design. (4) Lean formal verification (Mathlib4) in lean/ directory — mathematical proofs of protocol correctness. (5) Poseidon with domain-separation tags throughout — unified hash. (6) All components portable: STRK→Obol, centralized prover→Winterfell prover nodes (proof verifies itself), Cairo→stwo-circuits DSL, Starknet→NeXuS state root, on-chain registry→nexus-fact-store.
