Fossilized adv-cli-char-gen, dedicated venv, launch verified (2026-07-26 21:27)

Status: ✅ TESTED — boots to Main Menu, no crashes.

What: Put the Python Rich TUI character generator under version control (Fossil) and made it runnable via a clean dedicated venv; verified it launches.

Why: It was an untracked loose directory with a live API key sitting in settings.json. Needed VCS (secret-safe) + a reproducible run path (Alpine/musl forbids bare pip / --break-system-packages).

How: - Fossil: created ~/museum/nexus-adv-cli-char-gen.fossil; fossil open --keep (never --force); set ignore-glob; init commit 0616d110cf, hardening commit 48d4cfb380. - Secrets kept OUT of VCS: settings.json (live sk_ Pollinations key) ignored — ship settings.example.json + .env.example templates. Also ignored: .env/.env.local, secure_data/, backups/ (holds settings.json copies WITH the key — caught during boot test), all runtime data dirs, pycache, *.backup. Verified via dry-run + pre-commit grep guard: 0 secrets staged. - venv: ~/.venv/advcharcli (python3 -m venv) + pip install -r requirements.txt (rich, requests, cryptography, openai, pillow). Old ~/.venv/chargen was empty. - Boot smoke-test: renders welcome banner + 8-item Main Menu cleanly (EOF exit only because no tty).

Files: repo = /home/user/git/NeXuS-adv-cli-char-gen (main.py entry main()->app.run(), backup_manager.py, env_loader.py, free_image_generators.py, HELP.md, README.txt, requirements.txt, + new settings.example.json/.env.example/.gitignore). 10 files tracked.

Dependencies: venv ~/.venv/advcharcli. App auto-creates data dirs via mkdir(exist_ok=True).
