NeXuS Compass — 2026-07-07

Session: tmux Hardened · Eye in the Sky · CrowdSec Evaluation

WHERE WE ARE

Node is live, auth re-established, watcher running. A significant security pipeline was designed and partially tested today. The Constantine vision (one unified binary) was named and aligned to. CrowdSec packages installed, not yet configured.

WHAT WAS BUILT TODAY

nexus-tmux-watch.sh v2

  • Rewrite of the broken v1 (inotifywait was dying silently, send-keys poll too slow)
  • v2: 1s lsof PID loop + inotifywait on socket dir
  • NO after-send-keys hook — v1 hook fired on ALL keystrokes, locked everyone out including Anon
  • Running live: PID 25727, baseline captured, inotifywait active

nexus-lockdown.sh v2

  • Full PWND incident response pipeline
  • Lock → Snapshot (ss/ps/lsof/last/dmesg) → SHA256 → GPG encrypt+sign → Ghost Gate permit → distribute → recover
  • Ghost Gate permit: GPG clearsigned Nostr kind 24000 JSON → ~/logs/ghost-gate/permits/
  • Distributes to: syslog/PSAD · ~/logs/nexus-intrusion.log (fail2ban) · fwsnort kernel log · OpenSnitch · OSSEC stub
  • Recovery: nexus-lockdown.sh --recover issues all-clear permit
  • GPG key: hackenstacks@gmail.com (BA19DC5538EF...)

NEXUS_AI_BRIEF.md (fNg edition)

  • Full fNg AI onboarding document with NeXuS flavor
  • Lives: ~/manuals/fNg/NEXUS_AI_BRIEF.md + ~/claude/docs/NEXUS_AI_BRIEF.md
  • fNg = "for Next Generation" — any AI loads this and is operational

nexus-intrusion.filter.conf

  • fail2ban filter for nexus-intrusion.log
  • Needs: doas cp ~/scripts/nexus-intrusion.filter.conf /etc/fail2ban/filter.d/nexus-intrusion.conf

KEY DECISIONS MADE

The Governing Axiom (now permanent)

Security must be invisible to the user doing legitimate work. If they feel the security — it already failed.

Constantine Vision

One binary. One interface. One node. One identity. One mesh. nexus = the unified command. Deck + darknet-go + char-gen merged. Like Constantine unifying Rome — the architecture was always there, now it gets unified.

CrowdSec — Sovereign Mode Only

  • Installed: v1.7.8
  • Default config shares data (share_custom/share_tainted = true) — NeXuS violation
  • Decision: deploy local-only, zero cloud sharing
  • Install: cs-firewall-bouncer + crowdsec-file-plugin + crowdsec-http-plugin (done)
  • NOT installing: email/slack/splunk/sentinel plugins

Social Engineering Lesson

Anon accidentally fed AI-generated disinformation (CrowdStrike/Shadow Brokers/Lapsus$ mashup) — caught and corrected. Real CrowdStrike event: July 19 2024, faulty Falcon update, 8.5M Windows machines BSOD. Not a hack. A bad auto-update with no staged rollout. NeXuS offline-first architecture protects against this by design.

LIVE STATE

nexus-tmux-watch.sh RUNNING — PID 25727
nexus-lockdown.sh READY — ~/scripts/nexus-lockdown.sh
Ghost Gate permits ~/logs/ghost-gate/permits/
Intrusion reports ~/logs/intrusion/
Watcher log ~/logs/nexus-tmux-watch.log
CrowdSec INSTALLED, NOT RUNNING, NOT CONFIGURED
fail2ban RUNNING — needs nexus-intrusion jail added

NEXT SESSION — IMMEDIATE QUEUE (in order)

  1. Nostr account → wire into nexus-lockdown.sh for real kind 24000 broadcast
  2. CrowdSec sovereign config → console.yaml + acquis.d + custom scenario + http-plugin webhook
  3. cs-firewall-bouncer → configure nftables integration → Ghost Gate
  4. watchbind TUI → intrusion console on PWND detection
  5. SSH protocol → Sane·Simple·Secure plan for tmux-over-SSH
  6. hashcash → relevance to Styx protocol PoW
  7. hubble-cli → standalone eBPF network visibility for Ghost Gate HUD
  8. ckermit → node-to-node mesh transfer use cases
  9. OSSEC → file integrity + rootkit layer decision
  10. Constantine → unified binary architecture planning

PEOPLE

  • Anon — architect, relocating after this session
  • Konrad — DivaChain dev, working Q9 (identity-locked namespace writes)
  • Other Claude — tested injection attack, sent PWND via tmux send-keys to 0:claude.0
